Maximizing Healing

Our trained Chiropractic Assistants will administer your therapies, which may include

  • Cold laser therapy
  • Interferential current
  • Intersegmental traction
  • Low-force therapeutic exercise
  • Ultrasound

Most insurance plans include coverage for modalites, but Medicare does not. If you have questions about your coverage, we are happy to verify your benefits for you before you receive care.

The therapies you receive depend on your condition, but almost every patient receives interferential current and intersegmental traction over their care.

Interferential Current

Interferential current—also known as muscle stimulation or e-stim—sends a precise electrical current deeply into the damaged tissue to increase blood flow, stimulate the production of healing hormones and reduce pain.

The increased blood flow carries oxygen and healing nutrients, helping the tissue heal faster. It also helps reduce inflammation and swelling, which makes your chiropractic adjustments more effective. The electrical current is safe and comfortable. Most patients receive interferential current during the acute phase of their care.

Intersegmental Traction

Intersegmental traction is performed on a special table, often called a “roller table.” When you lie down on the table, the gentle massaging action of the table helps relax muscles and speed healing of ligaments and tendons in your back. It improves motion within each spinal segment, increases oxygen and blood flow, reduces swelling and helps hydrate the tissues, all of which helps speed healing. Most of our patients receive this therapy during their treatment.
